Leadership transitions and executive transitions are notoriously difficult. Many leaders fail when transitioning into new roles. When leaders do not perform, they lose followership. In a mild case, losing followership leads to disengagement and low productivity. In a worst case scenario, losing followership leads to a full-blown mutiny. In this case study, we explore some of the root causes of leadership mutiny, corporate rebellion and corporate coups. By understanding the underlying mechanisms, we have an opportunity to do something different.
